During summer 2021, IMPACT Family Center focused on providing holistic youth development programming to decrease violence, improve educational performance, provide youth employment and skills training with mental health supports for youth ages 13-24 years old.
Participants gained and/ or improved skills in the following areas, all of which directly affect their grades and required experiences for those in higher ed:
Basic and advanced writing; in particular, learning the AP writing style in preparation for journalism, public relations, marketing, and communications
Researching to find credible sources; developing interview skills through critical questions and developing story lines from such
Networking with other employees on-site, surveying community members, and
